This study investigates how teleoperated robotic systems influence human performance and communication during physical collaboration. By comparing two-person human teams to human-robot teams on a wire assembly task, we evaluated differences in task completion time, workload (NASA-TLX), and communication patterns using Bales IPA. Our goal was to understand how robotic mediation impacts coordination, task fluency, and perceived effort.
Collaborative class project to redesign Virginia Tech’s Digital Wellbeing Lab experience. We studied barriers to student engagement, conducted field research and usability testing, and proposed a solution integrating a web app and physical QR-code posters to reduce registration friction and encourage weekly challenge participation.
Cognitive Work and Task Analysis class project that applied Cognitive Work Analysis to Blacksburg’s public transit system. We focused on the decision-making and workload demands of dispatchers and bus drivers, using abstraction hierarchy, decision ladders, and control task analysis to propose design improvements for routing, coordination, and situational awareness.
Research project exploring auditory feedback to support cognitive tasks in visual-spatial learning. We developed and tested a sonification-enhanced auditory system and assessed its impact on mental load, perceived learning, and engagement in a learning interface, using both subjective surveys and performance metrics.
Worked on building and evaluating India’s national e-governance chatbot, UMANG. Focused on user behavior modeling, dialog tuning, and conversational UX for multilingual and multimodal interactions. Introduced improvements for fallback detection, visual structure, and service discovery using logs and interviews.
Worked on research for Voot’s mobile experience. Used eye tracking, analytics (Mixpanel), and qualitative interviews to redesign content layout, improve signup, and reduce navigation friction. Conducted segmentation studies based on platform and user demographics to inform design strategies.
